This year we are celebrating 100 years of Cubbing worldwide. We wanted to know why Cubbing Rocks and spoke to Venus Mabuza (9) from 1st Sasekani Cub Pack in Limpopo.
SSA: Why is Cubbing so much fun?
Because we earn badges, play a lot of games and learn a lot.
SSA: What was your best experience with Cubs?
When I learnt how to survive outdoors.
SSA: What is the weirdest thing you ate outdoors?
The weirdest thing I ate outdoors were wild cherries.
SSA: What was the toughest challenge at Cubs?
My toughest challenge in Cubs was when we had to build our own shelter.
SSA: What was the most amazing place you visited with Cubs?
Visiting the Andzani Drop in Center was amazing!
SSA: Can you name a few things you have learnt by being a Cub?
Respect, how to be adventurous and always helping others. That is what I have learnt.
SSA: What things have you done with Cubs to help people in your community?
Keeping the community clean, spreading awareness about environmental education.
SSA: What did you teach your mum that you learned at Cubs?
I taught my mum to always recycle.
SSA: What makes a good Akela?
A good Akela is a funny person who is always joking and laughing.
SSA: Why is your Akela special?
My Akela is loving and caring!
