This year we are celebrating 100 years of Cubbing worldwide. In South Africa we are celebrating through Group, District, Regional and National events. But, if we really want to know why Cubbing Rocks, who better to ask than the Cubs themselves….
We spoke to Jamela Mkanzi (10) from 1st Sasekani Cub Pack in Limpopo.
SSA: Why is Cubbing so much fun?
Games make Cubbing a lot of fun.
SSA: What was your best experience with Cubs?
The day I got invested as a Cub was the best day for me.
SSA: What is the weirdest thing you ate outdoors?
Prunes and milkshake were the weirdest things I ate outdoors.
SSA: What was the toughest challenge at Cubs?
Completing my advancement badges was very tough.
SSA: What was the most amazing place you visited with Cubs?
We visited the Kruger National Park, it was amazing!
SSA: Can you name a few things you have learnt by being a Cub?
We learnt the Cub prayer, knots and road safety.
SSA: What things have you done with Cubs to help people in your community?
We cleaned the community and made sure that the school is clean too.
SSA: What did you teach your mum that you learned at Cubs?
I taught my mum how to light a fire properly and all the other safety measures.
SSA: What makes a good Akela?
Someone who has a good lifestyle and is a role model in the community.
SSA: Why is your Akela special?
She has a good and loving heart.
