This year we are celebrating 100 years of Cubbing worldwide. In South Africa we are celebrating through Group, District, Regional and National events. But, if we really want to know why Cubbing Rocks, who better to ask than the Cubs themselves….
We spoke to Danzelle Metselaar (10) from the Springs Cub Pack in Gauteng.
SSA: Why is Cubbing so much fun?
Cubbing is so fun because we learn a lot of awesome stuff and we get badges. We also meet a lot of new friends, that is awesome!

The best experience was in Benoni at the Amazing Race.
SSA: What is the weirdest thing you ate outdoors?
The weirdest thing I ate was Organ potjie at the Amazing Race.

The most amazing place was definitely the BP Parade at Arrowe Park.
SSA: Can you name a few things you have learnt by being a Cub?
At Cubs I learnt to be trustworthy, to help other people in need, different uses for knots, water and fire safety as well as how to camp and cook safely.

We cleaned up litter and helped the SPCA.
SSA: What did you teach your mum that you learned at Cubs?
I taught my mum how to make a fire.
SSA: What makes a good Akela?
A good Akela makes jokes, is good at teaching, is kind, calming and also fun.
SSA: Why is your Akela special?
My Akela is special because she loves us and cares for us!
