Message from SCOUTS South Africa CEO, Wayne du Plessis

It has been nearly a month since I joined the National Office of SCOUTS South Africa. During the course of a few very busy weeks, I have had the privilege of meeting many passionate people who are doing amazing work with Scouts all around South Africa. What has stood out to me is the incredible commitment of the volunteers to the Movement and to creating a vibrant, active, and engaged environment from which the youth of South Africa can grow. I’ve found an organisation which is key to nurturing a community of young people who are committed to being better citizens.

I have also been looking into our National Office processes and procedures, am getting a better understanding of our policies and Safe from Harm Framework and will be looking to review some if deemed needed. I’ve also attended a few sessions of the National Woodbadge Training, the National Youth Influencer & Youth Leader training and also listened to our youth at the recent National Youth Forum. I will be taking all I have learned to see how we can adjust our procedures and processes to be able to serve you all better.

To those that I have met before, thank you so much for the warm welcome so far – I have felt welcomed and impressed by everyone that I have met. Thank you for all you do and continue to do.
