Take action today and become a Water Champ!

World Water Day is observed annually on the 22nd of March with this year’s theme being ‘Nature for Water’ – exploring nature-based solutions to the water challenges we face in the 21st century.

Recently SCOUTS South Africa launched a water saving challenge to its members calling for them to become Water Champs. By doing so, we are striving to aid in saving water in a number of SA provinces facing severe droughts, but also want to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal 6 – ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all by 2030 . Basically it means that we all commit to ensuring that everyone has access to safe water by 2030, and includes targets on protecting the natural environment and reducing pollution. As Scouting members who practice good citizenship, it is our duty to take action and make a difference.

Champs act now!

The Water Champ Challenge requires Scouts and non-Scouts to focus energies on avoiding water outages and water saving around the country.
